With just a few hours to go until the play-ins of Worlds 2020 kicks off, there is plenty of room to get some last minute bets in. With multiple underdogs, and some very clear favorites, even one or two wins can easily upset the balance of the teams making a run towards the group stages. Here are some of my favorite bets for this week of the Worlds 2020 Play-Ins stage.

Overall Winners

As an overall setting, there are two teams that really stand out in both groups. For Group B, LGD Gaming are the most dominant of the teams. With the overall group being of low power, it’s a given that they are sitting with a 1.01 odds to win the play-ins stage. Although this is good for an overall winner position, it’s not great for betting. However, if you want to have a perfect betting record, LGD Gaming is your best option.

My Pick (Group B): LGD Gaming

For group A, it’s a bit different. Although MAD Lions is seen as the favorite from Europe, it must be taken into consideration that they are the 4th seed from the LEC. This was a relatively new rule that was put in place for Worlds 2020. Not only that, MAD Lions had one of the least impressive runs through the playoffs, winning 4 of their 11 playoff games over 3 series. LCS 3rd place representatives Team Liquid also had a painful run throughout the playoffs, winning 7 of their 13 games played. Currently, MAD Lions sit 1.57 odds, with Team Liquid sitting at 2.5 odds in their group. Of the two, I do believe MAD Lions have what it takes to come out on top in 1st place in the groups, but it will not be without many bumps and bruises along the way.

My Pick (Group A): MAD Lions

Upset Chances head to head:

Where the big bets come in is with the head to heads. During the next 4 days of play, they will be going against each other in Bo1 matchups, in hopes to make some upsets happen. There are a few teams that I would personally stake my money on to make an upset happen in the head to head matches, even if it is only one game.

In Group A, the MAD Lions (1.67) Vs. Team Liquid (2.14) matchup is the one that I would place a safe bet on the underdog. As stated, I feel Team Liquid has a chance to pull an upset at least in a head to head matchup against MAD Lions and make EU sweat a little bit. Not only that, looking at Supermassive (3.03) against MAD Lions (1.36) is also a good opportunity. Papara Supermassive have a history of having some upset victories come through, and already have a history of playing at Worlds.

My Picks for Head to Head: Team Liquid, SuperMassive (Group A)

For group B, Unicorns of Love would be the only real team to provide some entertainment against LGD Gaming. As an old LEC team, they have been playing within the Russian region, and clapping their region handedly. Although many do not hold much hope for them to come out on top of the group, coming out second isn’t that hard to see, and for the UoL (3.45) Vs LGD Gaming (1.29), taking a single victory may be the turning point for a move forward. For a true underdog to make some upsets, I am looking towards PSG Talon to make a few moves towards getting some wins. Look for them to take a win against UoL in the UoL (1.53) Vs PSG Talon (2.43) match.

My picks for Head to Head: Unicorns of Love, PSG Talon (Group B)

Keep in mind, betting on the underdogs for this particular play-in stage is not that much of a loss. Over the next few days, expect teams to be testing the waters and getting used to other regions’ playstyles. Not only that, betting on the favorites yields little to no return if they do win, but one underdog can bring you in a heavy load.

These are just my thoughts as a betting man. Good luck, and bet with your own interests at heart!
